About NID DAT 2025

Updated as on January 24, 2025: NID DAT 2025 (Design Aptitude Test (DAT)) is a national-level entrance exam which is conducted by the National Institute of Design every year with an objective to determine the talent of the students for admission into Bachelor of Design/ Graduate Diploma Programme in Design and Master of Design courses.

The NID DAT Entrance exam is taken at various exam centers in different cities across the country.

It is a kind of competitive exam that opens the gateway for admissions to all candidates who are wishful to accomplish the design course or want to enter in the design sector.

Admissions to all the programs at NID (National Institute of Design) is based on the candidates’ performance performed in the entrance exam which is conducted in the two like DAT Prelims & DAT Mains. However, the objective of these exams is to screen the knowledge, skills and behavioral abilities of the aspiring candidates who wish to get enrolled either in B.Des or M.Des. Stage 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims 2025

The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims 2025 will be conducted based on pen and paper (offline) at various proposed test centers. This stage is designed to assessing creative abilities, knowledge, comprehension, Analysis, creativity, visualisation skills of the aspiring candidates.

Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains 2025

After qualifying the first stage (DAT Prelims), qualified candidates will be invoked to appear for the DAT Mains 2025. However, details of the Test Centre will be mentioned in the DAT Mains Admit Card 2025.

Although, registration process for NID DAT 2025 has been started which the last date to application submission is December 3, 2024. Prelims exam will be conducted on January 5, 2025.

Application Process

Candidates have to need to register their application form correctly with required details for the DAT 2025 exam by online mode through the official website of the National Institute of Design- admissions.nid.edu. Candidates will be not allowed to enter the examination hall who has not registered their application form. Candidates also need to pay as application fee by online or offline mode within the scheduled date of registration which will vary according to genders and categories.

How to Apply for NID DAT 2025?

1. Visit official link https://admissions.nid.edu/NIDA2025/Registration.aspx
2. After landing on the Sign Up page, you’ll find the required fields that should be filled correctly.
3. Later on, tick both checkboxes and click on get OTP
4. After successfully registration, credential for login will be sent on via an email id, we recommend you to check your email address on regular basis and even you also need to check span folder to get latest notice from NID DAT 2025.

Admission Process

Design Aptitude Test is conducted by the national institute of design for admission to designing courses. Candidates are mandatory to appear in the exam because they are selected on the performance of the qualifying exam of the DAT entrance exam.

Selected candidates are called with the view to appear in the studio test and personal interviews.

Eventually, they are considered to admission at the various NID's prestigious colleges across India.

Age Limit for B.Des

• For Indian Nationals in General Category and General EWS Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2002 and hold Indian Nationality are eligible to apply for admission.
• For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBCNCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST): Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1999 are eligible to apply for admission.
• For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1997 are eligible to apply for admission.
• For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2002 are eligible to apply for admission.

Age Limit for M.Des

• For Indian Nationals in General Category & General EWS Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1992 are eligible to apply for admission.
• For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category who come under Other Backward Class-Non-Creamy Layer (OBCNCL), Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribe (ST): Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1989 are eligible to apply for admission.
• For Indian Nationals in Person who belongs to Disabilities (PwD) Reserved Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1987 are eligible to apply for admission.
• For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1992 are eligible to apply for admission.

NID DAT 2025: Exam Pattern

DAT examination will be held on Pen and Paper-based comprising of subjective and objective questions with 100 marks for 3 hours for separately two papers- Prelims and Mains exams.

The national institute of design (NID) conducts these exams for candidates with intent to admission for Bachelor of Design, Master of Design, and Graduate Diploma Programme in Design courses.
