About Us

Updated as on March 10, 2020: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad abbreviated as IIT Hyderabad or  IITH is a renowned technical and research university that was founded by MHRD, Govt. of India under the mentorship of the Institutes of Technology on 18 August 2008 as a temporary campus at Ordnance Factory Medak, Hyderabad. A few years later, its temporary campus shifted at Kandi, NH-65 Sangareddy district, Telangana of Hyderabad as a permanent campus with sprawling in an area of 576 acres of land and it moved to its 576-acre as the permanent campus at Kandi, Sangareddy.

IIT Hyderabad has ranked 8 in 2019 among the Indian Institute of Technology across India and it was ranked 198 in Asia by the QS World University Rankings of 2019 and 94 among BRICS nations in 2019.

Programs

IIT Hyderabad offers various curriculums like B.Tech and M.Tech, B. Des and M. Des, M. Sc, and M. Phil degree. In 2019, the institute initiated M. A. in Development programs. The institute also offers Ph. D across all disciplines of engineering, sciences, and liberal arts.

Admission Process

IITH accepts admission to students in all curriculums through different types of Entrance examination. Although, the institute allows admission for B.Tech programs through the Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE-Advanced). 

Admission to the B.Des program is taken through the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design. All qualified candidates with a valid Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) score become eligible to apply for M.Des admission.

And admission to the Ph.D Program requires either B.Tech/GATE qualification or National Eligibility Test (NET).
