About Us

Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra is an Indian Institute of higher education was established in the year 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi of the Jharkhand state by the freehearted and industrialist Late Mr. B. M. Birla. The institute affiliated with University Grants Commission (UGC), was set up with the mission to educate students at Under Graduate, Post Graduate, Doctoral, and Post-Doctoral levels to perform challenging engineering and managerial jobs in an industry.

It also provides excellent research and development facilities to take up Ph.D. programmes and research projects.

The campus of the Institute coveres with an area of 780 acres of land.

Admission Process

BIT accepts admission to its students by online mode on the basis of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main) or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test  (NEET-UG) score.

Merit list is prepared on the basis of 60% weightage to JEE (Main) / NEET-UG Score and 40% weightage to marks in Class 12th qualifying examination
